About Me

Hallo there!

My name is Leonie Dewick-Eisele, I am from the UK but made the move to Portugal in 2022 where I am currently living off grid in the beautiful mountains.

I am a midwife and a self taught metal smith and have reached a point in my journey where both passions hold equal importance and attention in my life, which feels very exciting after years of juggling two strong parts of myself.

I began making jewellery whilst at university, and for the first year or two I created using threads, beads, resin and beautiful things from nature- acorns, petals, leafs! It was such a creative and explorative period.

After that my curiosity for creating with metal started and I began researching metal smithing. Due to being self-taught my metalsmithing journey has felt very organic and one full of experiments and curiosity.

I love jewellery, I love that we can adorn and decorate our bodies, in really subtle  but also in very bold ways. I enjoy intertwining symbolism into my pieces and expressing certain ideas/concepts and attributes through my creations. I love that I can dream something up in my minds eye and then let my hands work the magic, and tadaaa, there it is infront of me! Some of my pieces are carefully designed before being created, but also a good majority are results of just sitting at the bench with my wax or metal or clay in my hands and just beginning, just seeing what wants to come through and giving my creativity all the freedom and trust it deserves.

My jewellery is made to be worn, to feel sunshine and rain, to be danced in, to be lived in, and to be part of your expression of you.

Thank you for your support and encouragement.

All my love and grattitude,

Leonie
